It is limited in latiude by the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere at 23° 26′ 16″ (or 23.4378°) N and the Tropic of in the southern hemisphere at 23° 26′ 16″ (or 23.4378°) S; these latitudes correspond to the axial tiltof the Earth. The tropics are also referred to as the tropical zone and the torrid zone (see geographical zone). Tropic animals
Tropical rain forests are home to the largest and the smallest, the loudest and the quietest of all land animals, as well as some of the most dangerous, most beautiful, most endearing and strangest looking animals on earth. You've probably heard of some of them: jaguars, toucans, parrots, gorillas, and tarantulas all make their home in tropical rain forests But have you ever heard of the aye-aye? Or the okapi? There are so many fascinating animals in tropical rain forests that millions haven't been named or even identified yet. In fact, about half of all the earth's animal species live in tropical rain forests.

Tropical vegetation is a general term referring to vegetation in Tropical Rain-forest. Plant life that occurs in climates that are warm year-round is in general more biologically diverse that in other latitudes. Some tropical areas may receive abundant rain the whole year round, but others have long dry seasons which last several months and may vary with geographic location. These seasonal droughts have great impact on the vegetation.
Plant species native to the tropics found in tropical ecosystems are known as tropical plants. Some examples of tropical ecosystem are the Madagascar dry deciduous forest , the eastern Madagascar rain-forests, the forests of the Thai highlands and the El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico.
